The energy cluster in saxony
Power to Gas is currently considered to be one of the main solutions for the energy transition. Power to gas technology makes it possible to store big quantities of energy accrued from wind power and photovoltaics. This surplus of electricity can first be converted into hydrogen or methane, and then be integrated into the gas grid - an attractive option for adding value to Saxony as a center of technology.
Starting points for further development are, among others, central technologies like electrolysis, methanation and also transportation of and storage for the chemical energy carriers. Energy Saxony has the advantage of also including exploitation technology for hydrogen - fuel cell technology. The advancement of the energy transition will benefit from this synergy.
